Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts
Winner of 2019 MADE Awards
Wilmington, NC - March 19, 2019-Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts has been selected as a winner of the 2019 MADE Awards in the Arts Category sponsored by The Greater Wilmington Business Journal. This category supports businesses in apparel, accessories, textiles, home goods, and stationery. Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts was one of just three winners in this category.
MADE was launched to spotlight makers, manufacturers, artisans, designers, small businesses and the businesses that support them in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties.
A panel of outside judges combed through the nominations and were asked to base their choices for winners on several factors, including:
* Does the business have unique offerings in its market?
* Which companies are likely to grow sales the most, particularly in other parts of the country and/or internationally?
* Is the continued growth of the company likely to result in the creation of more jobs in our region and a positive impact on local economic development?
In the end, the judges chose top winners for the Manufacturers, Exporters, Functional Product, Food & Beverage and Arts categories and one overall for the Supporter designation.
Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts was founded in 2007 by a group of women potters. The business has thrived over the last twelve years as it continues to serve the local, regional, national, and global communities with its unique local artwork created by 20 artists. Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts, located in the historic Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington, is the first art gallery in Wilmington dedicated exclusively to local handmade, one-of-a-kind three-dimensional art and craft. They present decorative and functional works in clay, fiber/textiles, gourds, baskets, jewelry, mixed media, glass and wood.
All MADE winners, including Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts, were awarded a display table at this year's annual Wilmington Biz Conference & Expo, also produced by The Greater Wilmington Business Journal , on March 27 at the Wilmington Convention Center.
