Wilmington, NC --November 13, 2018- Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts has been voted the 2018 Shorepicks "Best of the Best" Award in the art gallery category. This award, sponsored by the Wilmington Star News, is the third time Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts has received this honor, which is based on nominations and voting by their regional readership.
Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts is a gallery of 20 Wilmington-area artists who work in many mediums, including clay, wood, gourds, basketry, fiber/textiles, jewelry, glass, and mixed media.
Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts is celebrating almost 12 years of successful operation in The Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington. Started by several women potters in 2007 with help and advice from SCORE mentor Sara Raleigh, it functions as a co-op where the artists work to create an inspiring environment to grow together and to provide the best possible experience for their customers.
"I believe their success is attributable to the incredible and unique talents, compassion, and dedication of these artists, who focus on creating high quality, hand crafted art and craft on an on-going basis," says Raleigh. "It has been an honor and a privilege to work with the gifted artists of Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts. As a mentor, friend and customer, I know that in the environment they create, people arrive as customers and leave as friends."
Their customers are both local and worldwide. Local residents and tourists alike tell them that every visit to Wilmington includes a stop at Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts. The gallery is their go-to stop for gifts for themselves and others, and that their loyal local customers bring their out-of-town visitors at every opportunity.
